We are now www.WindowsPhoneDaily.com!

Yeah, you read that right. I finally decided to stop being a cheap ass and I bought a proper domain name. What was once a Blogger-hosted site is now www.WindowsPhoneDaily.com! Don't worry, if you have a bunch of RSS readers following the old URL you shouldn't notice much of a difference. I've taken every liberty to forward all of those links into the new domain, so you should be in the clear (but you should double check just to make sure). I hope this reminds of all my wonderful readers that I am taking commitment to my site seriously. Admittedly my confidence has waned in the past and I am concerned about juggling my studies with the site, but Windows Phone Daily is a drug that I'm definitely addicted to.

Oh and yeah, I'm still working on that promised redesign of the site for this Fall. Hopefully the Mango launch doesn't beat my update to the punch, but I aim to have it done before then. Also, I'm hunting down a reliable camcorder to finally do videos for the site (which is the main reason why I haven't done a review in a while).

Anyway, I hope you're enjoying Windows Phone Daily and if you want to tell me anything now is the time to do it in the comments below!

We've Posted 500 Articles, Another 500 On the Way!

Hello dear readers,

Today is a proud day for me. Last night I published my 500th article here on Windows Phone Daily. That's 500 news reports, app reviews, game reviews, and editorials. That's 500 posts since the site began in February, so you know I'm taking my job seriously. I honestly can't believe the site has made it this far and I can only think of one person to thank: you.

Yeah that sounds totally corny, but if you didn't bother coming to the site and reading the content I work nearly 15 hours a day on I wouldn't even have the chance to be so sentimental. Even if you don't come everyday to read the site, I still thank you for visiting at all. Every person I reach with my writing counts in the end.

If you don't know, Windows Phone Daily is a one-man act and if the site hadn't shown such promise, I don't think I would have been able to put up with the seemingly endless amount of work. I haven't made a penny from the site yet, but I can honestly say I enjoy writing and creating for Windows Phone Daily more than anything else I've done in my life.

I have big plans for WPD too, which I'm willing to offer you a taste of today. For one, an official app is on its way and it rocks--plus there's no out-of-pocket cost to me! Second, I'm working on a big, big overhaul of the site around the time of Mango's release. The functionality will remain mostly the same, but I'm significantly upping the visual appeal of the site.

So that's pretty much all I wanted to say here. Remember to support the site by clicking on an ad occasionally. Thank you so much for visiting the site; if you keep reading, I'll keep writing. Here's to another 500!

Welcome to Windows Phone Daily v1.5!

Hello dear readers! Long time, never seen. So if you happened to browse over to this site just now, you probably noticed that things look a little different. That's because we're proud to introduce Windows Phone Daily v1.5!

This is the first significant update to the site since its creation earlier this year, but it's not quite big enough so we'll stick with the 1.5 number. So what's actually changed? Well first off, the site is literally bigger as we've increased the width from 930 pixels up to Blogger's max of 1000 pixels. To accommodate the new-found space, we've done a little bit of sprucing up and rearranging. You may notice that the Contact Us widget has transitioned to the top-left of the site and includes bigger icons. We've also added a new feature to our dedicated Contact page--a contact form! Powered by Contactify, this easy-to-use form provides you an easier way to drop us an email with your thoughts and makes our inbox's life just a teeny bit easier too.

The biggest thing isn't an end-user feature, but it's something that we hope many will utilize and will play a big part in helping us increase our funding for the future. We have added app promotion to the site! As of right now, this exists in the form of the left sidebar of the site which interested developers can rent space from in order to advertise on our site. We can provide very aggressive rates and we are also open to price negotiations in order to offer a better deal for you. If you're interested in promoting on the site, then be sure to use our new contact form and include "Promotion" in the Subject.

That's mostly it for version 1.5, but don't worry we have plenty more to come in the future. We have astronomically large plans for the site, but for right now it's step-by-step. Enjoy the new look, contact us with any news tips, and above all continue to enjoy reading Windows Phone Daily!

PSA: Comments Are Down, Will Be Restored Later Today (Update: Fixed!)

You may have noticed in the past few days that Windows Phone Daily comments have been missing from each post. To make a long story short, we were planning to make a transition from Intense Debate to Disqus comments for a project we are working on. As you can probably tell, this didn't work out as well as we had hoped and when we installed Disqus it seemed fine but there was no comment form for users to actually use. We had sought help from official Disqus support but have yet to hear any response on how to remedy the issue. So later today we will be reinstalling Intense Debate comments until our problems are resolved. Thanks for understanding!

Update: Finally fixed and now we're Disqus ready. Luckily we had a template saved before we made any of these crazy edits, and now we're good to go! Also, any previous comments made through IntenseDebate have been imported over to Disqus, so we didn't lose anything. Enjoy the new comments!

PSA: Articles Before April 5th are Dead...Sort Of

So...this sucks. Apparently when Blogger suffered from a worldwide outage a few weeks ago, Windows Phone Daily did not fully recover. I say apparently because this is my best guess but, as you can tell from the headline, every article posted from April 5th and earlier is kinda-sorta dead.

I first noticed the problem when I was trying to reference an older article about the first Sony Ericsson 'Julie' leak for the post I just did on the new photos. So I decided to jump around through the catalog a bit and then I discovered that articles before 4/5/2011 were not completely available. Articles will appear fine when browsing the site normally, but when you go to the article's dedicated page it craps out and all you will see are ads improperly aligned to the left side of the page.

I'm not exactly sure what I can do now because the site runs on Blogger's servers and not its own dedicated ones (we don't make enough--or any--money to have them), and I've attempted republishing the articles with the same date but the same problem is still present. I will reach out to Blogger to see if they can help restore those pages, but until then just don't go searching too deep into the backlog of WPD.

Thanks for understanding and please continue to enjoy the site!

Happy Easter Weekend!

It's Easter this weekend, and while I do not celebrate the occassion I know that many do. With that in mind I'd just like to wish everyone a Happy Easter weekend and to enjoy the time you have off.

P.S. Sorry that WPD hasn't been updated since Wednesday. I am aware that some news regarding the Microsoft-Nokia partnership broke this week. To be honest, I have had to deal with a lot of work this week in my personal life and WPD was temporarily sidelined. Don't worry, the site isn't going anywhere but dont be surprised if the site is occassionally silent when it shouldn't be.
