Download Google Chrome 14.0.825.0 for Mac OS X - Dev Release

Google is consolidating the Chrome 14 Dev channel with a new release that incorporates an updated V8 engine, and outlines a bunch of known issues for testers.

A note issued by Chrome Program Manager Jason Kersey this week reveals that “The Dev channel has been updated to 14.0.825.0 for Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome Frame and all Chromebooks.

Concerning all supported platforms, including Mac OS X, Chrome 14 now comes with V8 at version 3.4.12.1.

A number of known issues are mentioned, for Chromebooks such as: some File Browser actions crashes the browser; browser crash on login after kernel crash; and getting black regions while displaying NBC site.

As usual, testers can get the full details about the rest of the changes in this build by visiting the SVN revision log. Those who find issues are encouraged to make use of the bug reporter.

One user running the latest Chrome Dev on OS X 10.7 Lion Build 11A511 (confirmed as the Golden Master release of Apple’s upcoming OS) seems to have already found two problems with the open source web browser.

According to user Igor commenting on the Google Chrome Releases Blog, right clicking on extensions in omnibox doesn't work, and there’s a memory leak problem when creating a new tab, he claims.

Chrome 14 has been in the Dev channel for over a month now, and while some believe it should have moved on to Beta already, Google knows best when it’s time to promote the Alpha-grade application.

For now, users who wish a stable experience have Chrome 12 (Final) and Chrome 13 (Beta), both of which are reliable for day to day browsing and even office work, although Stable is always the most recommended choice.
