The dedicated team of developers at NeoOffice.org have posted an announcement on their Trinity forums, revealing that Apple’s latest Lion seed (likely the Golden Master build) is causing NeoOffice to exhibit some graphical glitches.

They explain:

“After installing the latest Mac OS X 10.7 developer preview release that Apple released earlier this month, we found a bug in the Mac OS X 10.7 scrollbars.”

According to Patrick, Fran, Ed, and Tim - The NeoOffice Team - “This bug only occurs when you have a very long document open and the scrollbar ‘thumb’ is very short but in such cases, Mac OS X will return incorrect bounds information when NeoOffice queries the position and size of the scrollbar thumb.”

“As a result of this incorrect bounds information, mouse events in the scrollbar will behave as if the scrollbar thumb is in a different position than the position that appears on screen,” their insightful forum post reveals.

As a result of this discovery, the team has worked up NeoOffice 3.2 Patch 5, “to ensure that NeoOffice 3.2 works smoothly on Mac OS X 10.7 Lion whenever it is released by Apple.”

As usual, NeoOffice 3.2 is accessible only to donors to the open source project.

Regular users can download NeoOffice 3.1 and the latest patches for free.

Patrick, Fran, Ed, and Tim say nothing about NeoOffice 3.1 being affected by this bug.

In the past, the team released a patch for each version of the suite whenever such bugs were encountered.
