ASUS Showcases AIRO Laptop Prototype

Features sliding keyboard and fan-less cooling

ASUS is expected to launch a new portable computer system that will bring forth a rather futuristic design, boasting a sliding keyboard. The laptop, which is still in its conceptual stage, hasn't yet been featured with a full technical specification sheet. However, the concept system was showcased at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the Taiwanese manufacturer unveiled a series of other new laptops.

Said product is expected to provide a different way for the internal components to be cooled down. Thanks to a sliding keyboard design, the AIRO's internal components can be cooled without the use of a fan-based system, which basically allows for a silent working environment, all thanks to a laptop that could easily distinguish itself from the majority of portable systems on the market. In addition, the sliding keyboard can also provide for a better and more comfortable typing experience.

There are no specific details as to when ASUS will finish the AIRO laptop, but the system is likely to generate a lot of hype, when it will be launched. Especially since the prototype has already caught the attention of many of those participating at CES, this year. You will also have to take in consideration that if the showcased prototype is anything close to the real model, it will provide some rather nice connectivity options.

Fellows over at engdadget were lucky enough to be allowed to get some pictures of the AIRO prototype laptop, which they have already posted on their site. For a better understanding of what the innovations provided by AIRO's design are, you should take a look at the posted hands-on video.

Despite the fact that the AIRO might not even see the light of day, the overall concept appears rather interesting and futuristic and can be considered a much welcomed change in the world of portable computer systems.
