Job Listing Hints at Annual Windows Phone Updates

Ever since Windows Phone launched last November, there's been a lot of confusion about how frequently phones would be updated. Originally everyone assumed Microsoft would come fast and hard with updates, with many thinking NoDo would be out by January and Mango would be released in the middle of Spring. Obviously that hasn't happened, but we do have a clearer idea of Microsoft's schedule now, with Mango heading to a Fall timeslot for release. Now thanks to a Microsoft Careers job listing, we may have gotten even more evidence that Microsoft is planning a yearly schedule for their big updates. The Windows Phone team is looking for a Senior Program Manager and according to the description Microsoft is planning to support major annual releases as well as NoDo-sized mini updates. Here's an excerpt with the hints (emphasis ours):

This Senior Program Manager position will be the CXE Feature PM that drives all development work on the Application Platform for update releases between major yearly releases. You will work closely with the Application Platform team who is working on major yearly releases and with the best technologies/teams across the company (e.g. Silverlight, XNA, .NET Compact Framework).

What do you think about Microsoft's update schedule; too slow or just the right pace?
