Rumor: Samsung in Talks for Nokia Buyout?

Well this is interesting. Despite Nokia completely denying the claims that Microsoft was looking to purchase the company's mobile division, we keep hearing hints that it could still happen. Plus we now have a new name to add to the list of potential suitors: Samsung. According to The Wall Street Journal, Samsung is staying quiet about the matter as they have only offered the usual non-denial statement of "we don't comment on rumors". But there may be a good reason why Samsung isn't talking about it: they might not even be interested! At least that's what reliable Nokia insider Eldar Murtazin said in a tweet, and he suggests Nokia may have actually let the Samsung rumor circulate in an effort to raise Microsoft's bid on the company.

Ahh, the cutthroat world of corporate politics. It would be quite surprising if Samsung actually was interested in Nokia, but it would make a lot of sense too. We all know that Samsung has been the most criticized hardware partner of Windows Phone for their manufacturing slipups with the Focus and Omnia 7, so buying Nokia and making them their official Windows Phone division might not be a bad idea. Do you think Samsung is really gunning after Nokia, or is this just a ruse to jack up the price for Microsoft? Shout it out from the highest mountain...or in our comments below.
