We all knew Microsoft was pretty smitten with its innovative Metro UI, but we never thought other companies would be too. A few days ago we spotted the website for advertising network BrightRoll and even though it's not immediately Metro, once you spot those distinctive arrows and thin lettering font you can tell where their inspiration has stemmed from. Then today WPCentral noticed that one of Microsoft's biggest competitors was also aping the style -- Google! The search giant's website for its annual I/O Conference apparently got a new coat of paint this year and, lo and behold, it's doing it's best to imitate Windows 8's double-wide tiles and mosaic arrangement. Google also mimicked a very widely-publicized press photo of Windows Phone 7 while showing off its own Nexus S for its new Google Waller service, although we think that's more coincidence than ripping off. This isn't mind-blowing breaking news, but it's fun to see how widely appreciated the Metro UI design language is...even from its most bitter competition.
See the pair of Google copycats compared to the Microsoft originals past the break.
