Hot! PS3 & PSP: The PSN will return this week with a few surprises

PS3 & PSP: The PSN will return this week with a few surprises. User can get a smile again. :)
Sony promises: the PSN will return this week, and users will receive a month’s free subscription for the network.

Sony’s network back online? The Japanese company released a statement to newspapers with new details about the anticipated return of the PSN network, after two weeks of being disabled. According to the message, the PSN is expected to return to action gradually.

Sony are not stating a specific day for the return but explain that the reload will not happen simultaneously around the world. It is not yet known which countries will receive the network first and which will have to wait a few more hours (or days) to play online games.

The renewed PSN is expected to include most of the options the network provided before it was disabled, including online games, account management, friends’ lists, chats, virtual home connection, PlayStation Home, and access to Qriocity.

In addition Sony implemented a lot of new security measure in the network, that will make it a lot safer to use, so that the big hack that led to the disablement and the revelation of millions of users’ details does not happen again. The PlayStation store however, is not expected to return at this stage and it is not clear when it will be active again.

Sony also announced its compensation plan for the disappointed users called “Welcome back”.

All PSN users will receive a one month Premium subscription to PlayStation Plus that includes various exclusive services (such as saving games on a cloud, exclusive discounts on contend for download and more). Registered users for the service will also receive a free month.

In addition, Sony will allow downloading “entertainment content” from the network free of charge. Sony say the content will change geographically and will be announced soon. Apparently these are PSN games, but Sony could decide to award its clients more modest contents such as themes or avatar pictures.

The bonus pack will be sent to users in the next few weeks apparently close to the re-launch of the PlayStation store.
