Remember that
rumored security update planned for May 3rd? Well it looks like that panned out and Microsoft has just begun the roll out for an update that will address, "a recently discovered security issue that could see users of WP7 handsets open to phishing attacks or content spoofing." As an added bonus,
WMPoweruser reports that some phones receiving the security update still on pre-NoDo or 7004 are automatically being updated to NoDo. So far they've only confirmed reports of that from HD7, Venue Pro, and Optimus 7 users BUT it looks like
HTC 7 Trophy,
7 Pro, and more importantly,
Surround owners are also receiving the update! Looks like you guys won't have to wait until
mid-May anymore to get to copy'n pastin' all of those Word documents! No confirmation yet from users who used the
ChevronWP7.Updater tool, but we'll keep you posted.
Update: Looks like 'Walshed' Windows Phones are doing just fine with the security update...
confirmed by the man himself.
