The Washington Post's 'Trove' is yet another slick news app, misleads mobile treasure hunters

Can't get enough cold hard facts in your daily life of smartphone-using? There's an app for that. The Washington Post recently launched the Trove app for Windows Phone. For those who don't know, Trove is a powerful news aggregator service that organizes news by their main topic and beams in hundreds of articles related to it (similar to News360). Trove is actually a web app that ties directly into your Facebook account and to get many of the extra perks in the Windows Phone app, like customizable 'Channels' of news, it's asked that you do the same there (although unlike the site it isn't required). Here's the official description:

Trove is a personalized news and information engine. It aggregates the Web's most interesting stories from a wide swath of sources, and gives you the power to customize what you see and how you see it.

Pulling articles from more than 10,000 sources, Trove's combination of innovative aggregation and human editing gives you the best of both worlds: the day's important stories and news tuned to your niche interests.

From Afghanistan to Lady Gaga, from Google to the NFL, Trove's 3,000+ channels offer the latest on a range of topics. Trove is on the Web at Trove.com, and available on other mobile devices too, including iPhone, iPad, Android, and Blackberry.

Trove is free and available in the Marketplace now. Click on the tile below to check it out.
