The new version of the application marks the debut of a new approach to the release schedule of the mobile browser, which now includes a brand new channel, Aurora.

This is the first Firefox Beta (version 5.0) to make it in the Android Market, and should be followed by many other iterations of the application, since Mozilla is set to move to more frequent release cycles.

There are a wide range of new features that the new Firefox for Android mobile browser sports, as release notes show:

- Improved page load speed, especially on 3G networks
- Improved panning responsiveness
- Added support for the Do-Not-Track header
- Improved compatibility with SwiftKey keyboard
- Images downloaded to the Android Gallery are now immediately visible
- Improved color conversion enabling better display of images and video
- Dialog prompts better match default Android styling
- Added support for over six menu items in the Android Menu
- Resolved an error encountered when trying to load web pages without an active Internet connection.

One of the most appealing features of the new mobile browser would be the Do Not Track privacy feature, which should provide users with increased control over their browsing behavior.

Firefox for Android is the first mobile Web browser to offer the Do Not Track privacy feature,” the company continues.

“Mozilla introduced Do Not Track to give users more control over the way their browsing behavior is tracked and used online. It enables users to tell websites if they prefer to opt-out of online behavioral tracking.” More on this feature here.

The mobile application also benefits from a number of over 150 add-ons, and the list is expanding, it seems. The latest release offers compatibility with a number of around 100 add-ons.

Firefox Beta for Android also comes with support for IPv6 on Android, as well as for HTML5 online / offline events, 'overflow: scroll' and 'overflow: auto' CSS properties, and Restartless Add-ons, enabling developers to come up with add-ons for the application easier than before.
