Samsung Galaxy S II, the latest flagship Android-based mobile phone from South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung, is set to make an appearance on the market in Australia as soon as June 1st, but those who would like to make a purchase can already reserve a unit through Optus.
The wireless carrier made the new smartphone available for pre-order for its business users not too long ago, and now it has it available for consumers as well.
The new smartphone is expected to land in user's hands on June 1st, the same day it should hit shelves around the country, the wireless carrier announced:
Pre-order before 28 May and we will aim to deliver your phone on 1 June 2011, the day Samsung Galaxy S II is released in Australia. While stocks last.
Pre-order is exclusive to online customers only. If you order your phone online after 28 May it will not be delivered until after 1 June 2011.
The Samsung Galaxy S II is one of the most appealing handsets to be launched on the market during the ongoing year. At Optus, it is available with a $0 up front cost on the $79 Optus Cap.
It packs a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display, along with a powerful dual-core application processor inside, with each core clocked in at 1.2Ghz, complemented by 1GB of RAM.
The handset also comes with 16GB of internal memory, and with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, along with 3G, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity, or built-in GPS receiver.
On the back, the new device sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper with support for 1080p HD video recording, complemented by a front-facing camera for video calling.
“The Galaxy S II is Samsung's new successor to the original acclaimed Galaxy S. It is also one of the first Android mobile phones to bring users the latest version of the Google Android mobile phone operating system (Gingerbread 2.3),” Optus notes.
“The Samsung Galaxy S 2 is slimmer and lighter, and yet much more powerful. It has a much improved and wider display coupled with a more powerful application processor and higher data transfer speeds.”
The handset can offer a great experience while on the go, through impressive multimedia capabilities, support for a wide range of Google Mobile Services, and for applications available for download via the Android Market.
