There's been plenty of talk and concern about Microsoft basically ignoring the world by not releasing any Windows Phone sales numbers. We previously heard rumors that Windows Phones only sold about 674,000 units to end-users but today's report from analyst firm Gartner shows they sold more than that...about a million more. In Q1 of this year, Microsoft's total market share count was about 3.6 million units. Through a little deduction, Gartner factored out all of the Windows Mobile sales from Microsoft (2 million) and reasoned that the remaining 1.6 million units could be attributed to Windows Phones. These latest figures are definitely a reassuring sign that Microsoft is doing something right, despite Windows Mobile still outselling Windows Phone. We even figured out from ComScore's report that Windows Phone would likely reverse Microsoft's losses by the end of this June, finally starting to increase their total worldwide market share. Microsoft still has plenty of work to do, but they're certainly not letting the momentum slip either.
