Rumor: Developers to Receive Mango Update Within a Month?

Sure having an emulator and snooping around for features can be a fun hobby for us enthusiasts, but one of the biggest limitations facing developers right now is the fact that they can't test their Mango-friendly apps on their devices yet. Why? Because nobody has Mango. With Microsoft confirming that consumer devices won't be getting the update until Fall, developers have been left wondering exactly how they are supposed to be able to create apps and test them. Well based on a new Winrumors report, that could soon change. While at the Mango preview event in London, the site talked to Achim Berg, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Windows Phone marketing, and he confirmed that developers would be receiving Mango updates to their phones soon. How soon? Apparently the update is going to roll out in four weeks, which is pretty darn soon!

Adding this to a tweet sent out by Joe Belfiore confirming that plans are in the works for developers to get Mango before launch, and we could be seeing a micro-launch of Mango soon. However, based on the information Winrumors has received we're not sure if Mango will be available for all phones or only developer-sanctioned ones that Microsoft offers. If Microsoft does indeed release Mango for all phones we could try to get some hands-on time with the beta as we're registered as developers with Microsoft's AppHub (being a student gets you swag!). Only time will tell, but we're feeling pretty good about this rumor, folks.
