We've got a pair of rumors today and both of them are SkyDrive-related. Winrumors broke the news that Microsoft was planning to significantly overhaul SkyDrive's web client. The overhaul is said to be a direct result of Windows Phone's further integration with the cloud storage service and so the site will be getting a few new tweaks like an HTML-5 powered image viewer and an overall UI improvement. But here's where things get interesting for us Windows Phone folk: LiveSide noticed that in a hands-on video of Mango from Pocketnow we may have seen our first hint at a cloud-based music streaming service. Apparently when Derek Snyder was doing all of those hands-on videos with journalists, he slipped up and mentioned that music files would be recognized by SkyDrive.
Google and Amazon have already launched their own 'music locker' services, and Apple is also rumored to be planning its own iCloud service for launch this Fall. Therefore it's entirely possible that Microsoft may have already been planning for this just to make sure they don't get left out in the cold by their competitors. Of course we won't know for sure unless we get a few more details, and Snyder never exactly mentioned that the files could be streamed, but the likelihood of this one coming true down the road is pretty high if you ask us.
